Women's ministry leader Dianna Hobbs draws hundreds to feed the hungry at City Church Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY Nov. 8, 2019 /EEWNewswire/ -- On Thursday, Nov. 7, Empowering Everyday Women Ministries held its 1st annual Feed 5,000 Thanksgiving Fundraising Drive at City Church in Buffalo to feed the hungry.
Meals were distributed to the hungry in the community, and senior Pastor Kenya Hobbs and a representative from Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, founded by Dianna Hobbs, as well as volunteers from local food banks and charities, made presentations and showcased the work they are doing to fight hunger.

Hunger is on the rise in the US and around the world, reaching 821 million in 2017 or one in every nine people, according to The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2018 report. In the Western NY region alone, one in eight people are at risk of hunger and food insecurity, making the “Feed 5,000” effort a timely initiative.
"Consider how many people don’t know how they will feed their families. One in nine globally and one in eight in my region alone is staggering,” said Hobbs, who launched the program initiative to fight hunger last month. “As Christians, we are not supposed to stand by and watch as people hurt and struggle. It is our duty to champion causes, and show the love of Christ through action. Though this organization’s campaign is seasonal, there are many who dedicate themselves exclusively to fighting hunger year round,” she said.
Organizations like Food Bank of Western NY and local pantries help feed millions, and Empowering Everyday Women Ministries’ effort is tied to supporting local charities, organizations, and individuals helping those who do not have access to healthy foods or sustainable solutions to fight food insecurity and hunger.

Hundreds united at City Church Thursday for the sole purpose of fighting hunger and using all available resources to take care of those in need.
“Hunger is an enemy, and it’s not just a problem somewhere out there, it’s right in our backyard. It’s our problem to help solve,” said Pastor Kenya Hobbs.
“We are compelled by love to meet the needs of those in America and beyond," he added.
Empowering Everyday Women Ministries is a nondenominational Christian ministry led by Dianna Hobbs. She is also the first lady of City Church Buffalo, an urban church plant on the city’s east side, which is led by her husband, senior pastor Kenya Hobbs. Together, they preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and advance Jesus’ mission to address the needs of the hurting in both spiritual and practical ways.
