Kingdom Couple: 4 things we love about Christian husband and wife Russell and Ciara Wilson

We love to see married couples that love Jesus and each other and aren’t afraid to let the world know it.

Enter Russell and Ciara Wilson, a high-powered, Christian couple that started dating in 2015 and tied the knot in 2016 at Peckforton Castle in Chesire, England. Ever since they said “I do,” the pair has been a beautiful example of Kingdom love.

While there is a whole lot to love about the Wilsons—like their huge heart for charity and helping the less fortunate—we are focusing on 4 things we adore about them.

#1 They make each other better. "I do feel that I'm a better woman because of him," Ciara said in the 2018/19 Winter issue of Wonderland Magazine. "Obviously I have my own vision for myself, but my husband definitely makes me better and that's what marriage is about. You both make each other better."

#2 They are open about their abstinence journey. When the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, 33, and the R&B singer, 36, first became a couple, they revealed that they were waiting for marriage to have sex. In 2017, Ciara told Cosmopolitan South Africa, "I have to give credit to my husband for sharing those views. It's awesome how it all worked out. I really believe that when you focus on a friendship, you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a relationship—and once you know you're really great friends and you're what we call 'equally yoked,' where you share the same values or the same outlook on life, it kind of sets the tone.”

#3 They pray together daily. The first thing the Wilsons do together in the morning at about 6 a.m. is pray, they said in an interview for GQ’s Modern Lovers Issue. “The prayer is always the same: They say thank you for the day. They set their intentions. They ask that the day be great.” And speaking of prayer, Ciara told The Angie Martinez Show that before she met Russell, “I prayed for a God-fearing man. I prayed for discernment. I prayed for wisdom, to really learn from the wisdom that I’m gaining from the experience that I’m going through.” Looks like God was listening, and He answered.

#4 They worship Jesus publicly and privately. The couple is always vocal about their faith, but it isn’t just for show. In August 2021, a photo went viral of Russell and Ciara worshipping at a local church. Someone snapped the photo, unbeknownst to them, that showed the Super Bowl-winning athlete on his knees, while the Grammy-winning entertainer stood behind him, holding her hands up in praise. Facebook user, Taylor Martin, who posted the photo, said a man standing next to him captured the pair on camera. While many complained about the inappropriateness of someone sneaking a picture of the Wilsons during such a private moment, others were moved by the intimate, sincere display of worship.

Ah, we love the Wilsons’ love and pray that God keeps their union and their family strong.
