Quitting is easy, but persevering is hard. That’s why many give up, but few persevere and maximize their divine potential.

If you desire to be among those who press forward and walk in the fullness of the purpose they were called to fulfill on earth, here are 5 critical things to remember that will help you along the way.

#1 Know that we all have battles. First things first, you are not alone. When you’re struggling to get through something and come out on top, it can feel like you’re the only person in the universe fighting that specific battle. But you’re not! Many people just like you have an uphill journey and choose to keep climbing anyway. You can do it too.

#2 Take small steps. One day at a time and one step at a time gets the job done. You don’t have to do it all in a day. Be patient with yourself and keep in mind that when you take small steps consistently, eventually, they’ll lead to bigger steps and major successes. Don’t despise small beginnings. Zechariah 4:10 says that God delights to see the work begin. He loves it when you do something – whether that something is big or small.

#3 Some days will be harder than others. Overcoming obstacles, weathering storms and fighting through struggles won’t be easy every day. Some days will be difficult, and you may not make as much progress as you’d like to. That’s okay. Give yourself a break. Just don’t let those pesky up-and-down days and difficult emotions stop you in your tracks. Keep on trying, and you’ll see the sun replace the clouds again.

#4 Talk to someone about it. Prayer is of the utmost importance and so is a human support system. When you are struggling, be open with someone you trust. Tell a pastor, counselor, family member, or close friend what you’re going through, and let them listen. It often helps to vent and release what’s bottled up inside. When you unburden yourself, it lightens your mental and emotional load, lifts your spirits, and frees you to press on a little further.

#5 Tap into your strength. God has given you power to push through this. His anointing is on you, empowering you and strengthening you to walk by faith. Tap into your strength. Use your weapon, the word of God, to fuel you and fortify you for battle. You truly can do all things through Christ who gives you strength, but you must believe that, and refuse to give up.

As you keep these 5 things in mind, wake up every day and tell yourself, I can do this! Speak positive, self-affirming truths from Scripture, and they will manifest in your life.
