‘Mommy Makeover’ Horror: Former MTV ‘Wild ‘N Out’ star, mom of three, Jacky Oh, dead at 32

In a day and age when growing numbers of women aspire to become social media stars and Instagram models, it is commonplace to undergo major surgical procedures to achieve the perfect body aesthetic. Unfortunately, far too many underestimate the dangers of going under the knife.
On May 31, Jacky Oh—real name Jacklyn Smith— a 32-year-old model, entrepreneur, and actress, died in Miami, FL, while receiving a “mommy makeover,” leaving three children and a longtime partner behind.
The family of the bi-racial influencer, raised by her single African-American dad, released a statement obtained by EEW Magazine Online confirming her death, saying, “Our family is still processing this very tragic and unexpected loss; we ask that you please give us privacy during this time.”
Jacky Oh was the longtime partner of comedian, actor, and MTV Wild ‘N Out star DC Young Fly. The couple shared three children, Nova, Nala and Prince.
Though the specific cause of death related to Smith’s surgery has not been released, the loss of the former MTV Wild ‘N Out star emphasizes the dangers of glamorizing mommy makeovers while minimizing the risks. A mommy makeover, which is a series of cosmetic surgery procedures that some people elect to have after childbirth, can include a tummy tuck, breast surgery, labiaplasty and liposuction.
According to a recent paper published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery— Global Open, the official open access journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)—the mortality rate for tummy tuck surgery is approximately one in 13,000 and an estimated 1.3 in 50,000 for liposuction.
Smith, who has sadly become a casualty, was the girlfriend of fellow Wild ‘N Out star, comedian, actor and Internet personality, DC Young Fly. She began dating him in 2015 after the two met on the set of Wild ‘N Out, became inseparable, and eventually conceived three children—two daughters, Nova and Nala, and one son, Prince, born July 25, 2022, less than a year ago.
In a Mother’s Day Instagram post the J Nova Collection beauty brand owner and realtor glowed in her photo shoot with her trio. She told her million followers that she was “blessed,” noting that “being a mommy is my favorite,” adding, “God chose me.”
Smith’s procedure was performed by popular and trusted plastic surgeon Zachary Okhah, MD, owner of PH-1 Miami, a plastic surgery clinic known for its liposuction and Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedures. Dr. Okhah frequently uploads photographs of his patients on Instagram to showcase his work and market his services to others interested in body adjustments and enhancements.
In an interview after giving birth to her first child, Smith, who frequently uploaded family vlogs and product hauls on YouTube, expressed excitement about reaching her pre-pregnancy weight with the help of an online trainer. In the sit-down with DJ Smallz Eyes, however, Smith was open about the struggles of shedding pounds the old-fashioned way while others went the surgical route—something she did not want to do initially.
“It sucks because I see girls that don’t have to really go work out. They just go get surgery and stuff, and I’m over here like, I’m trying to do it naturally,” she said.
In the same interview, the now deceased rising star confessed that she felt that she was in “competition with those girls.”
A BET Media Group spokesperson shared condolences in a statement and called Smith “a loving friend and beloved colleague of the Wild N’ Out cast” who “will be forever treasured and missed.” The statement also added that “she was a tremendous mother to three beautiful children.”
