Pretty outside, ugly inside: 7 scriptures to help you exemplify true beauty

Article By Terra Blake // EEW Magazine Beauty

Lots of focus is placed on outward beauty, public admiration and approval for external qualities. So many people give special attention to manufacturing a pretty package outside, when they are ugly and broken inside.

The kind of beauty that matters cannot be achieved with injections, surgery, makeup, filters, fillers, and waist trainers. All that shallow, outward stuff is not impressive.

If you want to truly be beautiful, stop focusing on a snatched waist, a beat face and keeping your brows on fleek. Instead, aspire to exemplify the qualities in these 7 scriptures.

She utters wise words. “She opens her mouth with wisdom and loving instruction is on her tongue.” Prov. 31:26 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

She places her fear of the Lord above all else. “Fair looks are a deceit, and a beautiful form is of no value; but a woman who has the fear of the Lord is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:30 (Bible In Basic English)

She is discreet and isn’t idle. “She looks discretely to the affairs of her household, and she is never lazy.” Proverbs 31:27 (International Standard Version)

She is always gracious. “A gracious woman wins respect…” Proverbs 11:16 (God’s Word Translation)

She is gentle-natured and holds her tongue. “Be beautiful in your heart by being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last, and God considers it very special.” 1 Peter 3:4 (Contemporary English Version)

She is mission-minded and helps others. “She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.” Proverbs 31:20 (New Living Translation)

She is a great example to the next generation. “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women…” Titus 2:3 (New International Version)

Though there are many other attributes truly beautiful women display, these 7, without fail, are among them.

If you aim to achieve this kind of beauty, God will be pleased and glorified, and you will be blessed, and favored.

There’s nothing wrong with a dab of makeup or applying techniques that enhance your outward appearance as long as the real beauty radiates from within.
