An exciting ministry elevation and relaunch has been officially announced by City Church, an urban, inner city-based church plant in Buffalo, NY led by Pastor Kenya and Lady Dianna Hobbs.
Prior to this latest development, in 2017, the pair began serving at Evangelistic Temple Church of God In Christ under then senior pastor Bishop Joseph Brinson, Sr., who has since retired and relocated to Atlanta, GA.
Pastor and Lady Hobbs confirmed the name change and the position change in a recorded sit-down interview explaining the unexpected process of completely taking the reins of the ministry which still falls under the umbrella of the Church Of God In Christ denomination.
“We named it City Church based on Matthew 5:14,” explains Pastor Hobbs on camera, which says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
He continues, “We wanted to make sure that the city is at the focal point of the ministry and that we, like the city in that scripture, are really set up high so that we can express the love of Jesus to the world, so that we can infuse the heart of God into the heart of the city.”
City Church is housed in the same building as it was before the name change— at 84 Rickert Ave., Buffalo, NY, 14211.
“The church is old. The building is old. It needs a lot of love. The community needs a lot of love,” explains Lady Hobbs in the video posted on the home page of the ministry’s official website, CityChurchBuffalo.org.
She adds, “We’re excited that God has chosen us for a sacrificial work. So when you come, it’s no frills, but we are all about lifting up the name of Jesus and we know that this is a work that has been ordained by Him, so it’s a privilege.”
