5 recommended go-to scriptures as you get out the vote

While the economy is thriving under Republican President Donald J. Trump, civility and unity are suffering here in America. Although government reported that employers added a robust 250,000 jobs in October and the unemployment rate stayed at a five-decade low of 3.7 percent, discord and animus are at an all-time high.

As voters of faith and color head to the polls Tuesday, November 6th, what things should we keep in mind when casting our votes? Let’s go to the word of God for that.

Keep something in mind: at stake Tuesday is control of the House and Senate, both now led by Republican majorities. Analysts, however, say Democrats stand a good chance of regaining control of the House even while Republicans maintain the Senate.

But political party aside, with so many people fighting for the black vote and the faith vote, how are we to make wise judgments about voting? What can we do to better read between the vicious and deceptive lines of political rhetoric and use our power for the good of the nation?

While this isn’t always as easy as we’d like it to be, researching candidates, and learning what their stance is on specific issues helps a whole lot. But that’s not all we need to do. Every believer should consult Scripture.

In all things, the word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). With that in mind, Empowering Everyday Women (EEW) Online Magazine did a random survey of over 100 readers. We asked them to submit their favorite scriptures related to voting.
