10 powerful Scriptures for intentional faith-building

We are inevitably tested and tried daily in various ways. Without faith, we cannot remain anchored in these times of testing. Therefore, it is critical to be intentional about faith-building.

How, then, can we increase our faith?

Well, it does not happen through motivational speeches, positive sayings or personal pep talks—though these things can be inspirational. Strong faith comes through receiving, believing, and obeying the word of God. For that reason, every chance you get, you should fuel your spirit with Scripture.

To help you get stronger in your walk of faith, EEW Magazine Online is offering these 10 powerful faith-building Bible verses.

Matthew 21:22 “You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” When you offer up prayers to God, do so with a believing heart, and you will see answers show up.

Hebrews 11:1 “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” Hoping in the unseen, while difficult, is the recipe for faith that activates God’s power. Despite not seeing the way, believe God to make a way anyhow.

1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.” Be watchful, steadfast in your belief, confident in the God of your salvation, and strong in the Lord. This is how you achieve and receive the great things God has ordained for you.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we live by believing and not by seeing.” Don’t get sidetracked by what you see around you; focus on what you believe within you. True followers of Christ must depend on their spiritual insight and not their natural eyesight.

James 1:3 “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” Times of testing are uncomfortable and can be quite discouraging. Even so, they are necessary to strengthen your perseverance. Endurance ensures that you last long enough to see the demonstrated power of God in your circumstances.

Luke 17:5 “The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Show us how to increase our faith.’” If you want more faith, do what the disciples did and ask God to show you what you need to do to grow in this area. He will guide, direct, and give you all the wisdom you need if you ask Him.

Luke 18:27 “He replied, ‘What is impossible for people is possible with God.’” With God, impossible means nothing. Obstacles do not obstruct Him. Hindrances do not hinder Him. Blockades do not block Him. Opposition cannot oppose Him. Each of us would do well to remember this when facing impossible odds.

Ephesians 6:16 “In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.” Being under spiritual attack is difficult, but it is a reality all believers must face. Hence, you must use your faith as a shield that stops the arrows of the enemy from penetrating. Your confidence in God causes his attacks to boomerang. In other words, your belief blocks the enemy.

1 John 5:4 “For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.” The word of God assures us that we are more than conquerors and overcomers through Christ. While there is plenty of evil in the world, and the cards may seem stacked against believers, the Lord promises that victory is guaranteed through our faith in Him.

Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” When your faith fuel is low, refuel with Scripture. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives life to the weary soul and supercharges our faith. Daily, set aside time to read your Bible which keeps your faith in tip-top shape.

Prayer: God, please strengthen my faith, and help me to rely on Your word which gives me power to face and endure every test, trial, and storm confidently. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
