8 Scriptures to prepare your heart for the new things God is doing

For millions, the New Year gets old fast. They welcome their new season with joy, celebration, and optimism but after a few weeks tend to slip back into a pattern of negativity and pessimism.
But you must be positive on purpose and prepare your heart to receive the new things God is doing.
To increase your faith and boost your sense of anticipation, come into agreement with the word of God. Speak His promises. God says in Jeremiah 1:12, “I watch over my word to perform it”—and His word always holds true.

Revelation 21:5 “He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’”
God is always doing something new, fresh, exciting, and unpredictable. So, set your expectations accordingly.
Jeremiah 29:11 “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
God didn’t say that you know His plans, but rather, He knows His plans—which are amazing. Though you don’t know what they are, trust that God, who is good all the time, is also up to something good all the time, too.
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Past failures, pain, mistakes, traumas, and discouraging outcomes can put a major damper on your faith and ruin your outlook. So, stop looking backward and look forward to what God will do next.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
The supernatural power of God wipes away the old and ushers in the new. This pertains to spiritual regeneration and supernatural restoration. Get ready to see God’s creative power at work.
Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
There is grace for your past mistakes and a guarantee of fresh favor every day. Each new morning represents a new opportunity to see God’s unfailing love, unending grace, and unchanging faithfulness displayed. You are blessed to be alive. If you’re still breathing, that mean’s God isn’t through with you yet.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
It takes trusting God to go forward and expect great things in uncertain times. When you don’t understand His purpose for taking you a specific route, if you trust Him, lean on Him, and submit to Him, He will set you on the right path to destiny. You are guaranteed to witness the new and wonderful blessings, favor, and breakthroughs He will release.
Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Though all Christians don’t suffer from amnesia and literally “forget” what’s behind them, we make a conscious choice to move past the past and boldly step into the future. Keep your eyes on the goal: achieving and receiving what God promises in this life and beyond. However, you can’t go forward if you keep on looking behind you. Look ahead, and look up.
Psalm 20:4 “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”
As you enter this newest chapter, internalize this scriptural prayer on your journey. Believe God to give you your heart’s desires as you submit to Him and bless your plans as you surrender them to Him.
Prayer: God, I know You are doing something new and fresh in my life. Help me to be open and willing to move forward into the greater destiny You have in store for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
