Black Girl Magic: Simone nails two signature moves at world championships, makes history (VIDEO)

(EEW Magazine News) Simone Biles is a star, a force of nature, pure adrenaline and Black Girl Magic rolled into one.

Over the weekend, the 22-year-old gymnast showed off two signature moves named after her—the Biles and the Biles II.

During the floor exercise, she landed the Biles, a triple twisting double tuck first named for her in 2013. On the balance beam, she nailed the Biles II, a double twisting double tuck dismount.

Both were met with roaring approval from the near-capacity crowd inside the Stuttgart, German arena.

On Oct. 1, before achieving this huge goal, Biles said during a press conference, “Getting the skills named after me is really exciting, just to go out there and prove to myself that I can do them, especially under all the pressure that will be there that night.”

It was the first time she successfully performed these two new elements on the international stage as the U.S. women shot to the top of the standings in the qualifying round at the World Gymnastics Championships Saturday, finishing five points ahead of China.

Never one to be satisfied or rest on her laurels, despite qualifying in first place to the all-around final where she will compete for an unprecedented fifth world crown, Biles said, “I still feel like I can do better.”

At such a young age, Biles has 20 worlds medals, just three behind the record held by Belarusian Vitaly Scherbo. Her performance at this year's world championships has the potential to make her the most decorated gymnast in the history of the competition.
