The husband of Sarah Jakes Roberts, Touré Roberts, is her lover and “best friend”— and the happy wife wants everyone to know it.
In a sweet online birthday tribute posted on Instagram Sunday, Sep. 8, the first lady of Potter's House at One LA waxed poetic about the man she adores.
“It’s not the moments when the eyes are watching or ears are listening that mean the most to me. Nor is it the sunrises we experience each morning that has birthed my gratitude for you,” wrote the 31-year-old author of Colliding with Destiny. “It’s when the sun has made its descent and the moon has taken its place in the dark sky that my love for you is at its finest.”
The pastor, who turned 46 Sunday, wed Jakes Roberts in November 2014, and ever since, the power couple has made huge strides in ministry.
Giving a sneak peek inside the not-so-public portion of their existence together, the founder of the Woman Evolve conference and daughter of megachurch pastor T.D. Jakes, said, “When pillow talk of worry and concern turns to uncontrollable laughter, when words of wisdom become reminders of God’s promises, that’s when my love for you is at its finest.”
In the past, both were hurt in relationships and were divorced. When they found each other, the California-based couple re-discovered bliss and are happy with their blended family of five children.
“There comes this moment in the midst of the night when our souls demand that our unconscious bodies reflect our original state as one. Beautifully tangled, eternally intertwined. That’s when my love for you is at its finest,” said Jakes Roberts, adding, “I will spend every single day waiting for the night with you. Happy Birthday to my best friend in the entire world.”
After a day filled with love, the grateful husband also took to Instagram to publicly thank his “incredible bride for all of the surprises, including working hard to make September 8th officially Touré Roberts Day in Los Angeles.”
