LaShawn Daniels’ publicist, JoJo Pada, confirmed to CNN that the music industry titan died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident. His wife, April Daniels, also confirmed the news via social media.

GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, LaShawn “Big Shiz” Daniels, has died at age 41. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
Although no formal statement has been issued by the family, close friends and industry insiders have taken to social media to express their shock, dismay and devastation over the loss of the megawatt talent.
News and sketchy details began appearing online in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday, Sep. 4, 2019. Very little information is available at the time of writing.
Preacher and movie executive, DeVon Franklin, tweeted, “So sad...I was just with him last weekend,” adding, “He’s responsible for so many great moments in music.”
Over the years, Daniels, a Christian, lent his songwriting abilities to the most iconic performers the world has ever known. From Michael Jackson to Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton to Destiny’s Child, Lady Gaga to Brandy, the hit-making preacher’s son from Newark, NJ was revered for his ability to write classic melodies.
He and his wife, April Daniels, appeared on the WE TV reality show “Tamar and Vince,” alongside Vincent Herbert and Tamar Braxton. Daniels was also tapped as a vocal coach and songwriter for the star’s chart-topping R&B Love and War album.
Daniels nabbed his first Grammy in 2000 for his songwriting featured on Destiny’s Child’s Say My Name.
