As the faith community rejoices over the latest miraculous healing of award-winning women’s ministry leader Dianna Hobbs, she is announcing that she will extend her ministry hiatus through 2020.

The nonprofit leader and philanthropist, who suffered a mini stroke and multiple seizures that landed her in ICU in early August, wrote a new post to her supporters on Facebook, Tuesday, Sep. 24.

“Now that I have been able to share God’s goodness and assure you that all is well with me, I will continue my ministry and social media hiatus,” said Hobbs, 42. “Lord willing, I will return in January 2020, ready to fully reengage and resume a normal schedule in the New Year.”

Hobbs’ normal schedule is anything but normal for the average person. “Whether the wife and mother of four is seen: in television appearances on PBS and NBC; overseas preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, hosting power-packed women’s ministry conferences; tutoring small children struggling to read; or doing local charity work to help refugee communities, the homeless, and under-served populations, her work is endless,” said longtime publicist Amy Bertinelli in an exclusive statement to EEW Magazine Online.

“She does so many good things for the faith community at large and local church community, but she needs a bit more time to rest and readjust to life after such traumatic events,” added Bertinelli.

Hobbs’ extended hiatus announcement comes one day after the best-selling author of God Did It said on Facebook that her August medical emergency caused severe impairment, but God “restored all the feeling and mobility on my left side, as well as my speech, my voice, and my ability to think clearly. The Lord did this right after the medical staff released me from ICU into general care.”

Despite the “supernatural turnaround” she experienced, Hobbs explained, “I still need time for God to replenish and pour into me until my cup is overflowing. Then, out of the abundant riches of what He has poured into me, I will in turn share with you. My capacity is yet limited, and I have to catch up on so many things I have missed.”

The typical output of the first lady of City Church—one of the fastest-growing urban ministries in the city of Buffalo with several campus and cell ministry locations—is astounding.

When operating at full capacity, she shares: daily podcasts, recommended by Christianity Today; a daily devotion from her Top 100 blog; multiple encouraging social media posts; a daily newsletter; a weekly Bible study; in addition to managing a full-time ministry staff.

Many expressed overwhelming joy when Hobbs posted her social media status update yesterday, the first in more than two months. However, she is not ready to return full-time just yet.

“Thanks for understanding and praying for me,” wrote Hobbs. “My silence is necessary. However, please know, it is well my soul, my mind, my spirit, and my body. I just have to ease my way back into life.”

“We love you, and we understand,” tweeted Rebecca Johnson, editorial director of EEW Magazine Online who accepted a women’s empowerment award on behalf of Hobbs over the weekend.

Johnson added, “Take all the time you need sis. We will be here. You know your team has your back 100 percent. Happy to serve!”

A ministry supporter named Tamika Morrison wrote under Hobbs’ extended hiatus announcement, “No apologies needed. We need YOU to take care of YOU! You are such a real testament to the power of God and his supernatural availability to us all. Thank you for everything. We love you and continue to keep you and your family lifted up!”

Morrison and Johnson’s sentiments echo the sentiments of the entire staff at EEW Magazine Online and the faith community at large.
