We love it: New inspirational coffee mug celebrates melanated queens

What a great way to mark Black History Month: with the release of an inspirational coffee mug that celebrates black women’s faith and melanin. Best of all, the proceeds benefit literacy programs for inner-city kids.
This new mug, which has Black Christian women buzzing, has this fabulous slogan prominently featured on the cup: “Melanated & Consecrated.”
It also features a Bible verse found in 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (NIV)
“Our team is so excited about this design! It’s a celebration of our Christian melanated queens,” said Fatima Leonard, who helps lead creative direction for Your Daily Cup of Inspiration’s charity mug line created by award-winning women’s ministry leader, Dianna Hobbs, in partnership with Zazzle.
“This mug is beloved by the confident black woman who knows her skin is beautiful, whatever her shade, and that her faith is something that should always be front and center,” added Leonard.
The Cup of Inspiration creative collaboration has been “a wonderful blessing to the women who say they feel so inspired by the encouraging messages,” said another spokesperson for the charity line. “We constantly hear that our loyal and amazing patrons feel extra good knowing that the proceeds from the purchase of each cup helps those in need.”
Sales of the “Melanated & Consecrated” mug go toward the Literacy Links program that is closing the literacy gap that exists in the African American community among children in kindergarten through third grade, ages five through eight.
The program has received generous book donations and funds from donors, community partners, and individuals seeking to help make a difference in someone’s life. Through Literacy Links, Hobbs, a philanthropist, and her ministry team, provide free literacy training, reading circles, tutoring and more to disadvantaged youth populations, and those in underserved neighborhoods and communities.
Hobbs is founder of Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that distributes free Gospel resources around the world to help build faith and share the love of Christ.
