Our Versatile Queen: Gospel singer CeCe Winans is going classical and fans are super excited

Vocally versatile GRAMMY® Award-winning gospel singer CeCe Winans is going classical.
The 54-year-old “Alabaster Box” singer is teaming with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) to headline the Classical Roots concert in 2020.

This popular annual event brings together 150 singers from churches throughout the region to perform with the CSO, celebrating African American musical traditions.
"It's a true treat for me to be able to collaborate with my hometown Gospel legend, the one and only," said Cincinnati Pops Principal Guest Conductor Damon Gupton in a statement obtained by EEW Magazine Online. He will be leading this year’s concert at Cincinnati’s Music Hall, Friday, March 6.
“The event is spectacular every year, and with addition of CeCe Winans, it is sure to be even better,” said Daniel Mitchell, a music correspondent for EEW.
Classical Roots began with the orchestra performing in area churches several years ago and grew into an annual tradition at Music Hall in 2011.

Winans, the most-awarded female gospel artist of all time, will blend her golden voice with the Orchestra’s instrumentation and choir, making beautiful melodies on one epic night.
"No doubt her joyous spirit combined with the wonderful Classical Roots Community Choir under the direction of Maestro William Henry Caldwell will be something to remember,” said Gupton.
Winans has been awarded 12 Grammys, 23 Dove Awards, and seven Stellar Awards. She has also been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Nashville Music City Walk of Fame.
Classical Roots is one of the most highly-anticipated CSO concerts of the year.
