Before passing Wynter Pitts, 38. said she hoped her story would inspire confidence

Though Wynter Pitts, founder of For Girls Like You Magazine, passed away unexpectedly last week at just 38 years old, leaving behind a husband and four daughters, there are many gems of wisdom she shared that will live on.

The author and girls empowerment speaker expressed during a recent motivational talk that she wanted her life to be one that will inspire confidence and cause others to see God’s love.

“As I think about my daughters, their friends, and when I think about my friends, and when I just think about generations of girls that I’m speaking to and I’m writing for, and I’m praying for, and I’m thinking about them, my prayer is that [I would be] like Paul.

In Philippians 1:14, he says, it’s because of my imprisonment that more believers are standing boldly, that more believers are delivering with confidence the message of Christ.

"And that’s my prayer that, anything that I suffer, anything that I’ve had to go through, anything that I’ve had to walk through, that it would bring confidence to the people that are watching. “

The niece of famed pastor, author and Bible scholar, Dr. Tony Evans, grew up in a drug-infested neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father, who was addicted to drugs, burnt down the family’s house when she was only a year old. This forced Pitts’ mother to move the children in with their grandmother.

“With those kind of odds built up against me—fatherless, poverty, hopelessness—statistically, I should not be here,” pointed out the co-author of She is Yours: Trusting God As You Raise the Daughter He Gave You. She penned and published the book with her husband, Jonathan Pitts, in 2017.

But she told her audience that it is God’s love that made the difference and they should know that “regardless of where you are sitting, regardless of where you have come from, God’s work in you is His and my charge is that you are confident to walk in it, because He will complete it.”

Pitts added, “When I tell my story,” the hope is that, “my story would show God’s love; that my story would be one of fearlessness; one of God’s faithfulness.”
