Feeling lost? God is ordering your steps.

Recently my son Kedar phoned me from the car and said, “I don’t know how I got here, but I made it.”
I didn’t understand what he meant by that until he elaborated and said, “The GPS stopped working on my way downtown.”
“Oh no!” I replied, feeling sorry for him and simultaneously relieved that he navigated his way around town without any help. He’s a newly-licensed driver and is still learning directions.
“How did you feel when that happened?” I asked.
“I was nervous,” he told me, as he explained that he lost the GPS signal very early on in his short trip and couldn’t get it back. But somehow, some way, by the grace of God, Kedar arrived at his destination safely.
As we are navigating our way through life, uncertainty can be the worst. At times, each of us have felt like Kedar did. We have been unsure about which way to go, and it has seemed improbable that we would ever arrive at the place God destined us to be.
If this describes you lately, in spite of how you feel, know that your steps are being ordered by God. The journey is already mapped out. And though you can’t see it now, God will see to it that you arrive at your predestined place of purpose. Just focus on clinging to faith as Abraham, one of the Bible’s greatest patriarchs, did.
In the beginning of the year (which feels like ages ago now!), I talked to you about Genesis 12, where God told Abraham to leave his country, his people and his father’s household, and go to an unknown land. God led me right back to this passage for this devotion, and my assignment is simple: to remind you of God’s faithfulness.
As we know, God promised to birth a great nation from Abraham’s loins, bless him, make his name great and cause others to be blessed through him.
Even though he couldn’t see how any of what God was saying would come true, Romans 4:3 tells us, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”
I can’t tell you that believing is always easy, but it is always worth it. And I can’t tell you that you’ll always understand God’s process, but I can tell you that He is always faithful to fulfill His promises.
When Abraham believed, God came through and blessed him with Isaac, an heir, and Abraham’s descendants became as numerous as the stars in the sky.
Through faith in Christ, you and I are Abraham’s descendants, and promises of blessings belong to us too. The same God who was faithful to this great patriarch is faithful to us.
What has God promised you? He will do it! Despite feeling lost and confused sometimes, let me reiterate that every step of faith you take is being ordered by and honored by the Lord.
With no evidence and no GPS, trust God’s voice despite the nagging voice of doubt calling into question the validity of what He said. At the right time, you will step into your place of promise and enjoy a new season of wholeness, breakthrough and fulfillment. It will happen. It has to, because God said it.
