Feeling Burnt Out? 8 Scriptures to read to renew your strength

Article By Amanda Berg // EEW Magazine // Spiritual

When chronic stress gets the best of you, things get real—and fast. You can experience burnout, where you’re totally drained and unable to perform duties and function normally.

Instead of facing the day with optimism, excitement, and strength, you feel pessimistic, discouraged, and weak. If you think you may be burnt out, and you don’t know how to shake out of that slump, turn to the word of God.

Here are 8 Scriptures EEW Magazine Online recommends to help renew your strength:

Jeremiah 31:25 BSB: “For I will refresh the weary soul and replenish all who are weak."

Exodus 33:14 NIV: “The LORD replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’"

Psalm 29:11 NIV: “The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV: “The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged."

Isaiah 40:29 BSB: “He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.”

2 Corinthians 4:16 ESV: “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”

1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV: “Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”

Psalm 145:18 NIV: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

Instead of reading these verses quickly and going on about your day, take time to pray and meditate on them. Also, ask God to show you what you might need to cut out of your life or do differently to help you overcome this stressful period.

Suggested Prayer: God, I am feeling burnt out, and I don’t know how to get out of this slump. But Your word promises that You will be my strength when I’m weak, my hope when I feel hopeless, and You will give me rest for my weary soul. I lean on You, and I ask that You give me renewed strength, and guide me along my journey to find better balance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
