Tina Campbell Shares Personal Testimony and Exclusive New Album Details on 'Tamron Hall Show'

Tina Campbell, one-half of the Grammy Award-winning Gospel duo Mary Mary, recently joined Emmy Award-winning journalist Tamron Hall to share exclusive insights about her forthcoming solo album.
The 50-year-old revealed the title of her new album, "Testify," set for release in September, during her appearance on the Tamron Hall Show. She also performed her latest single, "Pray for Me," captivating the live studio audience.
In a candid conversation, Tina—who has been married for nearly 24 years, and is a mother of five and grandmother of two—discussed the inspirations behind her new music. She spoke openly about her family, her experiences with rejection, and the profound significance of sharing one's personal journey.
Tamron, 53, commended Tina for her transparency about marital infidelity and other deeply personal challenges, noting that such openness is rare.
“I don’t necessarily suggest that for everybody,” Tina responded. “I think certain people are just called to be open with their lives, and I realize that I’m a wounded healer.”
Tina's marriage to percussionist Teddy Campbell faced public scrutiny following his multiple extramarital affairs, first reported in the June 2013 issue of EBONY magazine. The faith-based community was shocked by the revelation.
Tina’s tumultuous, rage-filled reaction to the betrayal was widely covered on her WE tv reality show, leading many to believe the couple would not survive the ordeal. However, more than a decade later, their bond remains strong—a resilience they credit to fasting, prayer, Christian counseling, scriptural study, and renewed intimacy.
Despite the pain and public humiliation, Tina finds liberation in her truth. “I do understand that I am a public figure, and with being a public figure, you are open to public praise and public opinion. They can slash you,” she said. “I do understand that, and I accept that. So, I don’t take it that personal. I don’t let people’s opinion elevate and make me, so it doesn’t break me.”
The interview, which delved into Tina's personal battles, spiritual journey, and heartwarming anecdotes about her family and ministry, is available for viewing below.
