Jason Nelson and Madison Ryann Ward's New Duet ‘Made New’ Hits 260,000 Streams in Weeks
Renowned gospel artist Jason Nelson and soulful singer Madison Ryann Ward have collaborated on a new duet, “Made New” (Jaelyn Song/Tyscot / Fair Trade), which has amassed over 260,000 streams since its release on May 10.
This smooth track, featuring ethereal backing vocals and a message of redemption, is expected to become a staple on Quiet Storm radio. The song was recorded live at World Overcomers Christian Church in Durham, North Carolina, and is part of Nelson’s upcoming album, You Belong: Live in Durham, set to release on June 7.
“I saw a post Madison made singing ‘God is Good’ by Jonathan McReynolds,” Nelson recalls. “That 45 seconds instantly made me a fan. I followed her music releases and reached out to see if she’d be interested in being a part of the recording, and she agreed.” The track, produced by Dana Sorey (known for his work with Eric Roberson, Algebra Blessett, and Boyz II Men), perfectly showcases the blend of Nelson’s smooth tenor and Ward’s powerful voice.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this song,” Ward says. “My prayer is that anyone who hears it will be equally as blessed. The message is something to be celebrated…praise God we are made new.”
With over 250 million digital streams across his two-decade career, Jason Nelson’s velvet-like tenor has graced gospel hits like “Nothing Without You,” “Shifting the Atmosphere,” “Residue,” and “Forever,” four of which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart. Nelson has also collaborated with GRAMMY® Award-winning artists including R&B singer Chrisette Michele, jazz bassist John Patitucci, and producer Donald Lawrence.
Madison Ryann Ward first captured the public’s attention with a viral cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools” a decade ago. Signed by legendary producer Rick Rubin to American Recordings, she released notable tracks such as “Mirror” and “BRKN.” Ward performed “Mirror” on David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction featuring Jay-Z, which catapulted her into the spotlight. In 2023, she founded her independent label, Zelda House Records, releasing unplugged, soulful songs that highlight her unique vocal style, amassing over 100 million digital streams to date.
