A Wisconsin prosecutor declined to file charges against a white police officer who shot a Black man in the back in Kenosha, concluding he couldn’t disprove the officer’s contention that he acted in self-defense because he feared the man would stab him.

Though some have characterized him as a violent criminal who was resisting arrest and got what was coming to him, democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris said she believes in “due process,” and when it comes to Blake’s shooting, “I cannot see how anybody could reason that, that was justifiable.”

acob Blake, the Black man shot multiple times by police in Wisconsin, is paralyzed, and it would “take a miracle” for him to walk again, his family’s attorney said Tuesday, while calling for the officer who opened fire to be arrested and others involved to lose their jobs.
