Christian couple DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good has confirmed that they are splitting up after nine years of marriage.

Formal legal documents show that the preacher filed for divorce from the actress on Monday, December 20, in Los Angeles, CA, ending the pair’s whirlwind romance after the two met while working on the 2011 film Jumping the Broom.

"After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected," shared Good, 40, and Franklin, 43, in a joint statement to PEOPLE.

"We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There's no one at fault. We believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love,” said the Hollywood stars who got engaged in May 2012 and wed in June 2012.

The news comes as a shock to many within the faith community that had come to know and celebrate the high-profile duo for their vocalness about their faith, abstinence, and morals-based approach to entertainment.

Just six months ago, on June 16, Franklin and Good celebrated their wedding anniversary with sweet online tributes to each other.

In Good’s post, the Think Like a Man star gushed over her entertainment executive hubby, calling him the “love of my life” and saying, “You are the best decision I've ever made (besides loving Jesus lol). I love you with everything inside me. In this life and in the next."

Though the two are parting ways, they said in their statement, “We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we've spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other.”
