Watch: Kobe Bryant’s friend Lisa Leslie reflects on his life and death
(EEW Magazine News) WNBA legend Lisa Leslie sat down for a one-on-one with CBS This Morning to reflect on the life and death of her friend Kobe Bryant who tragically died in a Jan. 26 helicopter crash.
The 47-year-old, who is still grieving the devastating loss, told journalist Gayle King that his death reminded her of a quote about how “joy and sorrow are inseparable.”
Leslie, who had known 41-year-old Bryant since he was 18 years old and describes him as “kind,” told CBS that she is not the only one grappling with grief. Bryant’s family and fans around the world who love him have been rocked. “Sorrow has been awakened in my life, in their lives, and the whole world’s life,” she said.
There were nine people on the Sikorsky S-76B that crashed in thick fog in Calabasas causing the death of everyone aboard from blunt force trauma, including Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
A public memorial for the former Lakers superstar and his daughter is expected, but at the time of publishing, plans have not been announced.
