Le’Andria Johnson celebrates 9 months sober with a praise: ‘God I thank You!'

GRAMMY® Award-winning gospel singer, Le’Andria Johnson, is celebrating a huge milestone—9 months of sobriety—and she is sending up praises to God for this wonderful accomplishment.
The gifted songbird, who confessed to being an alcoholic on a two-part episode of OWN’s “Iyanla: Fix My Life,” is grateful to Lord for strength to overcome her addiction to alcohol.
“This journey hasn’t been easy,” confessed the “Better Days” songstress in a celebration post on Instagram. Yet, she is still standing, not just with the help of the Lord, but also with the support of her family, gospel music legend Donald Lawrence, spiritual coach Iyanla Vanzant, her record label RCA Inspiration, “and countless others.”

The artist, whose struggle with alcoholism nearly led to the ruination of her ministry and career, is excited to be back on track, and says she feels indebted to those that “made it possible for me to pat myself on the back for celebrating 9 months of sobriety!”
EEW Magazine Online previously reported that Johnson, 36, whose singing career took off after competing in BET’s “Sunday Best” talent competition, was ministering to audiences around the nation, while barely holding it together behind doors.

Johnson told Vanzant, she would drink alcoholic beverages all day long: A Mimosa at 11:00 in the morning, another Mimosa and three Long Islands at 3:00 in the afternoon, and lots more liquor before the day was done.
Things had gotten so bad, Johnson was becoming less hopeful that she had any power to change her ways. Formerly branded “The Bad Girl of Gospel,” the wife, mother, and former pastor gained a reputation for drunken rants, slurred slander against the church and its leaders, and cussing fits online.
But Johnson checked herself into rehab earlier this year and received the professional help she needed. Now, those dark days are behind her and better days are ahead.
“God I thank you!” wrote Johnson, who has a bright outlook these days, adding, “9 months and counting! It’s only up from here!”
