Tina Knowles-Lawson, mother of superstar singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, recently celebrated seven years of wedded bliss with her husband, Richard Lawson, who she believes God sent into her life as a result of prayer.

“I’ve known Richard for 40 years, and when we reconnected, it was, just, I felt like, a gift from God,” said Knowles-Lawson, 68, in an interview with Tamron Hall to promote her new Lifetime movie, T.D. Jakes’ Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story.

“I really mean that, because I prayed. After I went through a divorce, it was pretty devastating after 33 years, and I always planned on, if it was in God’s plan, to get married again, because I like being married. I like being in a relationship,” said the entrepreneur who split from music industry executive, Matthew Knowles, in 2011.

When asked what prayer she specifically prayed before falling in love with her second husband, Knowles-Lawson revealed, “I have this book, The Power of Prayer, by Stormie Omartian,” which, according to her, “has a prayer on finding a mate.”

The best-selling book, which is part of Omartian’s “Power of Praying” series that has old over 40 million copies, has been so impactful in Knowles-Lawson’s life that she said she has given away between 200-300 copies.

The host of Facebook Watch show, Talks With Mama Tina, told Hall, the book’s prayer “basically just says to bring someone into my life that is God-fearing and the kind of person I’m going to be in a happy, harmonious relationship with.”

However, though praying for a mate was important to her, Knowles-Lawson made it clear that when it comes to her prayer life, she asks for God’s guidance in every area—big and small things.

“I believe in praying for everything. I’ll pray for a parking space sometimes,” she said, as Hall and the studio audience burst into laughter.

“It’s funny because my mom used to say, ‘Don’t be wasting God’s time with all that little stuff.’ But I believe in praying for everything,” she said.

Never underestimate the power of a praying woman.
