One of our favorite gospel sopranos on this side of heaven just went to the other side.

LaShun Pace, age 60, has died according to her management team. At the time of writing, the cause of death for the former member of the gospel group, The Anointed Pace Sisters, has not been disclosed.

Pace’s family, however, is expected to release a statement about the passing of the “I Know I Been Changed” singer.

This tragic news comes just over a year after LaShun Pace’s sister, singing sensation Duranice Pace, died at 62 of cancer. Mother Bettie Ann Pace, affectionately called Mother Pace, preceded both her daughters in death in July 2020 at age 82 from kidney disease.

Just over two months ago, EEW Magazine Online reported that Pace’s 1996 single, “Act Like You Know” went viral thanks to TikTok creators using a portion of the gospel classic to make comical skits. Just as a new generation was getting to know her and breathing new life into her career, she transitioned.

In May 2021, during a virtual interview with Audrey DuBois Harris, Pace told the host, “I am on dialysis,” and said, “Now my thyroid is giving me problems.

Pace also confessed, “I don’t want to have the surgery. I am trying to believe God, but I don’t know what His will is, but it has interfered with me singing the way I used to sing.”

During the candid chat, the legendary vocalist encouraged viewers to take care of their bodies—something she did not do earlier in life.

“Even when I was like 600 pounds, going through sicknesses, fluid was backing up. I didn’t know all of that was because of congestive heart failure, because every doctor you go to, they give you a different reading or whatever,” she explained.

At her worst, Pace said she was confined to a wheelchair. “Could not walk. Had to go to rehab for 31 days, all because of fluid backing up. Too much salt and your heart not pumping the blood and all that,” she said.

Pace reiterated, “If you’re not a musician or a singer, take care of your bodies. It is the temple of God.”

The recording artist with a legion of fans said in order to get her health back on track after being severely ill, “I started juicing. Things got better, and I lost a lot of weight. So, I’m still here for a purpose and a reason.”

Her purpose has now been fulfilled. Rest well LaShun Pace.
