Aspiring singers of all ages have reason to raise their voices in joy.
BET has announced an all-new season of the hit reality TV singing competition “Sunday Best,” that draws millions of viewers across the country.
“It’s official! Sunday Best is coming back,” confirmed GRAMMY® Award-winning host, Kirk Franklin, in an Instagram video posted Friday, Feb. 15.
The show debuted in 2009 and aired its last season in 2015. Many fans were disappointed when the popular series went off-air. Now BET has chosen to renew it.
Franklin is advising those who desire to be “the next Gospel sensation” to upload an audition video on BET’s website. Multiple uploads are allowed.
According to the 49-year-old “Love Theory” songwriter, those whose vocal chops are impressive enough to make it to round two will be invited to audition in either Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, or Dallas “in just a few weeks.”
“I’m telling you, this new season of ‘Sunday Best’ is going to be better than ever,” said Franklin, referring to himself as “your boy, your cousin, your nephew.”
He added, “I will see you soon. Let’s go.”
