One of America's favorite gospel duos of all time, BeBe and CeCe Winans, may have recorded their final album, Still, in 2009. But all these years later, they are still relevant, and rightly so.
The former chart-topping Detroit duo that recorded some of the biggest gospel hits of the 80s and 90s like "Addictive Love," and "Lost Without You," will be co-recipients of the 2018 Gospel Music Icon Award.
Chicago’s Central City Productions (CCP) announced this week that this year’s Black Music Honors, which is an annual two-hour television special honoring artists and musicians who have influenced and made significant contributions to American music, will take place Thursday, August 16th in Nashville, TN.
“The vision of the Black Music Honors is to recognize the trailblazers in African American music who have paved the way for the artists of today,” said Don Jackson, founder and CEO of Central City Productions. “Many of these artists have never received their much-deserved recognition.”
Television and radio personality Rickey Smiley and Grammy Award-winning singer and actress LeToya Luckett will return as co-hosts.
The show is set to air on broadcast syndication on Sept. 8-30, 2018.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the 2019 opening of the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) in Nashville.
