As reports surface that Sean “Diddy” Combs may be too distraught to eulogize his late ex-girlfriend, Kim Porter, news is breaking that Bishop T.D. Jakes has been tapped to officiate her funeral service.
These reports have not been confirmed.
The Dallas, Texas mega pastor of The Potter’s House, whose sermons bring comfort and hope to the hurting globally, is a mainstay of the faith community and is frequently called upon in times of grief.
Christian Post shared the news.
The elaborate funeral is set for Saturday in Columbus, Georgia. At that time, Porter, who was 47 at her time of death, will be inside a casket pulled by horse and carriage.
"My family and I would like to offer our love and condolences to Diddy and his entire family, as they traverse the tragic loss of Ms. Kim Porter,” said Jakes, 61, in a social media post upon learning of Porter’s untimely death.
He continued, “The beauty of love is that it knows no limits; not even death can contain the love established during her life. I empathize with your feelings of sorrow, yet I hope for the memories made and laughs exchanged to be cherished most.”
The mother of Diddy’s three children will be buried at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery alongside her mother and grandmother. The private funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at Cascade Hills Church.
Their children are a 20-year-old son, Christian, and 11-year-old twin daughters, D’Lila Star and Jessie James.
In a statement made to The Associated Press, Porter’s family said, "although we've lost our best friend, God has gained a special angel and we know she is watching over us."
In the sentimental remarks the family went on to say, "God broke the mold when he made Kim, there was truly no other woman like her. Although her time here on earth was far too short, she lived a life full of purpose and meaning. She was a loving mother and devoted friend. She was the epitome of kindness and grace. There wasn't a person she met who's soul she did not touch. Kim was the type of woman who changed lives for the better.”
According to a social media post by Dove Award-winning Christian contemporary singer Nicole C. Mullen, Porter had given her heart to the Lord before her sudden death.
“A few months ago, a good friend of mine reached out to me. She wanted me to know that a super model Kim Porter, (who had given her heart to Christ) was being discipled. They wanted to know, if they could connect us,” she shared.
Mullen, the 51-year-old love interest of gospel singer Donnie McClurkin, said, “I told them, ‘Absolutely.’ I looked her up and began to pray for her. I’m not sure what happened, but beyond that, our paths did not cross.”
Porter was discovered dead in her Los Angeles home on Nov. 15 after suffering from flu-like symptoms for several weeks.
Her exact cause of death remains unknown.
