About 15 years ago as I was trying to obey God’s command to expand the ministry, I kept running into roadblocks. There was one closed door after another. Everything seemed to be failing, and I couldn’t get the help I needed. The process was frustrating, but I knew what God had commanded me to do. I couldn’t figure out why doors weren’t opening or why no one was willing to assist.

If you have ever been told no repeatedly and rejected over and over again, it can really discourage you if you let it. And though I did feel discouraged sometimes, my faith and drive to do the will of God was greater than my negative emotions. For a season, the more I pressed, the more opposition I was met with. But I didn’t give up, and my due season came.

God began knocking down walls and removing hindrances for me. He opened doors that were far bigger than I expected and showed me incredible favor. I look back now at where I started and marvel at God’s grace and faithfulness.

When you’re going through your “roadblock season,” it seems like your due season will never come. You wonder, when will things change for me? When will my situation improve? When will I see God’s promises fulfilled and His glory revealed? I know what that’s like. But hang in there. God sees you, and He is faithful.

Earlier, I was reading about the ministry work of the apostle Paul in Acts 19. For two whole years, God had Paul preaching in the same place: the hall of Tyrannus in Ephesus. He was obedient to his ministry assignment and was so effective in that region that the Bible says, “all of the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.”

God did extraordinary miracles through Paul too. When handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, their illnesses were cured, and the evil spirits left them. Demons were cast out, and individuals who had been following false gods and performing sorcery stopped and believed in Jesus Christ. A mighty work was being done indeed.

Before this great two-year revival and spiritual awakening happened in Ephesus, however, Paul had been in a synagogue preaching for three months (Acts 19:8). While there, he was met with great opposition. A faction of detractors refused to believe the gospel and began ridiculing followers of Christ. Though Paul tried to make it work there, he couldn’t. In order for the work of the Kingdom to go forth, he needed to transition. And when he made the change, amazing things happened. He got a big breakthrough in his ministry. His hardest season came before his harvest season. When Paul’s new season arrived, the gospel reached more people, and God was glorified.

If you’re going through lots of changes, you’re in a transitional phase. Things might not have come together yet, but they will. God is just letting you go through the process. Wait on Him, and trust Him. There are some doors you can’t walk through without traveling down dark, winding roads first. In the tough times, don’t let discouragement defeat you. Keep on going. Push through. When your life is shipwrecked and you’re staying afloat on broken pieces, don’t give up. The Lord will bring you through this transition and put things together the way only He can. He will bring you into a place of greater blessing, fruitfulness and favor.

Your due season is coming. You will see progress where you were once stagnant. You will see increase where you were once lacking. You will see opportunities where there once weren’t any. You will see victory where there was once only defeat. There’s more to this than meets the eye. God is not through with you yet.

In the meantime, cling to the promise of Philippians 1:6 NASB, which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration, which says, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, expect the Lord’s good work to continue in your life. He won’t stop blessing you. He won’t stop increasing you. He won’t stop showing up for you. He will see to it that every promise He has ever made will be fulfilled, and His Kingdom purpose for your life will be fully realized.Be encouraged. Your due season is coming!
