Earlier this week, my husband Kenya and I learned that Dr. Jonathan Daniels, one of our children’s former pediatricians – along with two of his daughters – perished in a house fire. Our prayers go out to their loved ones at this difficult time.

Initially, when Kenya first alerted me to the news story, I did not remember Dr. Daniels. As you well know, these days, many of my former memories are often hazy or nonexistent thanks to brain trauma. But the more hubby talked to me about the African American doctor’s previous connection to our family, slowly, a few fuzzy recollections came into focus.

When the Hobbs children were tiny tots, Dr. Daniels was employed at Main Pediatrics, a private practice owned by Dr. Leslie Clapp, the kids’ primary doctor. She was a kind woman and a witness to my youngest daughter Kaiah’s medical miracle.

Kaiah was born without a uvula, the tissue that hangs down at the back of your throat. Because there was a gaping hole where her uvula should have been, when I tried to nurse Kaiah, she would choke and had difficulty swallowing. Feeding times were excruciating because she struggled so badly.

I was in distress, as Kaiah lost weight and refused to nurse. My breasts were sore and engorged from producing milk for an infant unable to drink it. It was rough.

So, we prayed, fasted, and believed that God would heal our daughter.

Miraculously, one day, during a routine visit, Dr. Clapp jumped back in amazement while shining a light down Kaiah’s throat. Her uvula had grown in!

Dr. Clapp told me that in all her years of practicing medicine, she had never witnessed a child that had been born without a uvula spontaneously grow one.

“It’s a miracle,” she told me with sparkling eyes.

I recall that amazing day clearly. I was only in my 20s then, but through that experience, God was building my faith to believe for future miracles. Now I’m in my 40s, and I know without a doubt that we serve the God of miracles!

I believe wholeheartedly that my spiritual mission and mandate are to stir your faith so you will see God do the impossible. Miracles still happen, but you must expect them to manifest.

This morning, God led me to Matthew 8:13 which says, “Because you believed, it has happened” (NLT).

Prophetically, God is speaking this word over somebody. Because you believed – even when doubt, fear, and circumstances gave you every reason not to – God has heard and answered your request.

In our featured verse, we see the words Jesus spoke to a Roman officer who had petitioned Jesus to heal his ailing servant. The Savior was so impressed with this leader’s level of faith that He gave him what he asked for (v. 10).

And friend, to this day, faith impresses God. Faith moves Him on His throne. Faith activates His power. Faith produces results. Faith brings forth miracles. Faith cures incurable diseases. Faith makes all things possible.

Perhaps you need a miracle right now. If so, you did not stop by this blog by accident. God sent this faith-filled girl from Buffalo, New York, who has repeatedly seen Him perform miracles firsthand, to encourage your faith in your desperate time of need. Never stop believing God to do the impossible. I am a witness that He will.

At your lowest point, just as He has lifted me so many times, He will lift you too. He’ll lift you out of the valley. Out of sickness. Out of lack. Out of depression. Out of despair. Out of hopelessness. Out of the wilderness.

When you believe, things happen. Situations start to shift. Mountains begin to move. Faith changes everything.

To help you stand firm in faith, I’m stirring Luke 1:45 NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

As you drink down the contents of your cup, know that because you believed, you are blessed and will see the fruit of your faith. Always remember, all things are possible to them that believe.

You don’t have to take my word for it; Jesus said so Himself (Mark 9:23).

Now, let’s pray.

God, thank You for assuring me that my faith will produce a harvest of miracles. Help me to stay in expectation despite how it looks, because nothing is too hard for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
