Empowering Everyday Women (EEW) Ministries celebrates International Day of the Girl by making a difference in the lives of the 130 million girls worldwide that don’t have access to education.

With the assistance of partners and volunteers, the nonprofit organization founded by Dianna Hobbs, has shipped free school books, Bibles, and other educational resources to 100 African girls.

“In America, we often take for granted how easily we access books, education, Bibles, and other resources. But some girls in Africa and other places around the globe face many obstacles, even being denied an education,” said Theresa Mayes, a global partnership director for Empowering Everyday Women.

This education initiative is achieved through Empowering Everyday Women’s Literacy Links™ program, which launched in Hobbs’ hometown of Buffalo, NY, the third poorest city in America with populations of over 250,000 according to U.S. Census data. Locally, it donates books, offers free tutoring sessions, and conducts reading circles in schools, churches, and community organizations. Literacy Links™ has now expanded beyond its local roots and is helping girls in other parts of the world.

“Day of the Girl is the perfect opportunity for us to invest in girls that need our help,” said Mary Atkins, a literacy director and tutor. “We are blessed to be able to get much-needed resources into girls’ hands and change lives one girl at a time.”

“In the future, prayerfully, we will help even more girls,” said Pauline Dennis, a Literacy Links™ program manager. “We are thankful that we have an amazing network of other like-minded, grassroots organizations, donors, and volunteers that support our efforts to empower girls through reading and education.”

The Literacy Links™ program works hand-in-hand with schools, teachers, parents, community centers, charities, and other faith-based organizations.

In honor of Day of the Girl, give a charitable donation to support the ongoing educational efforts of Empowering Everyday Women Ministries and Literacy Links™.
