Black Christian women and reality shows are rarely matches made in heaven, but a Pentecostal First Lady is hoping to prove that the two can be divinely connected.
Meet Mary Cosby, one of the co-stars of Bravo’s newest iteration of the Real Housewives franchise: The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Pray, saints.
The series follows the lives of Cosby, Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose and Jen Shah, all who are navigating society while grappling with faith and being seduced by beauty, wealth and perfection.
Cosby is already the talk of the Internet since Bravo revealed that she married her late grandmother’s second husband, Robert Cosby, Sr. And not only that, but the unconventional marriage arrangement has also produced the couple’s teenage son and a reportedly happy union for 20 years.
According to Cosby’s Bravo bio, this church leader has “a penchant for God, couture and only the finest champagne,” and she also “inherited her family’s empire of churches, restaurants and more.”
Now, if you’re wondering why Cosby married her grandmother’s ex, according to Bravo, it was a “caveat in her taking over the family business.”
Arranged marriage and all, she is said to be happy, thriving, and expanding the family’s empire.
Hey, to each her own.
What then can we expect to see from Cosby on the show?
Her bio gives us a hint, saying, “Small but mighty and always dressed to the nines, her unconventional past has made her guarded, and she quickly finds herself on shaky ground with some of the ladies.”
This is a lot to take in, but fans of the Real Housewives franchise are known to enjoy just how extra, odd, and drama-filled these shows tend to be.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City premieres on Bravo Wednesday, November 11th at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT
